A number of the Afghan lawmakers in the lower house of the parliament (Wolesi Jirga) have accused the house speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi for misuse of authority.
The lawmakers are claiming Mr. Ibrahimi spends 20 days in month on foreign trips and is not following the important decisions taken during the assembly sessions.
A lawmaker Mohammad Naeem Lalai said Mr. Ibrahimi should be questionned regarding his negligence and misuse of authority.
In the meantime, another lawmaker Osmani Farahi said Mr. Ibrahimi has earned millions and purchased and built numerous skyscrapers by misusing his authorities.
Farahi also accused Mr. Ibrahimi of nepotism and said he has appointed his relatives as in top government positions.
The lawmakers insisted that a committee should be formed to investigate the issue and dismiss Ibrahimi as the house speaker.
However, Ibrahimi defended against the allegations and said all his trips outside the country were official and part of his duty.
